Terms of Service
Last updated: October 2, 2026
These Terms are the agreement between you and Mawal AB for your use of InputTrail. Please read them, together with our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy. Nothing here limits the statutory rights you have as a consumer.
1. Who we are
InputTrail is a web app that wraps free, publicly available language-learning videos on YouTube and tracks your cumulative hours of comprehensible input. It is operated by Mawal AB, a Swedish private limited company (aktiebolag), organization number 559279-0462, registered at Hallandsgatan 38, 118 57 Stockholm, Sweden. In these Terms, "we", "us", and "our" mean Mawal AB, and "you" means the person using the service. You can contact us at hello@inputtrail.com.
2. Acceptance and eligibility
By using InputTrail or creating an account, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, and able to enter into a binding contract. InputTrail is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
3. The service
InputTrail lets you watch ordered playlists of third-party comprehensible-input videos and records the hours you watch, your progress, and your continue-watching position. You can use the core tracker without an account, with your statistics stored on your device. Creating an account lets you save and sync your statistics across devices. We may add, change, or discontinue features to improve the service. We aim to measure your watched hours accurately from real playback, but we do not warrant that every count is exact. The optional import feature uses an AI service (OpenAI) to read a spreadsheet you upload into a draft of daily hours; you review that draft before anything is saved, and AI results can contain mistakes.
4. Third-party content and YouTube
The videos in InputTrail are hosted on YouTube and provided by their respective creators. We do not own, host, or control these videos, and we do not charge you for them; they are free and publicly available on YouTube. InputTrail uses YouTube API Services, and your viewing happens through the embedded YouTube player. By using InputTrail, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service, and your use of YouTube is also governed by Google's Privacy Policy. Videos may be changed, made private, or removed by their owners or by YouTube at any time, and a playlist may be reordered, so availability is outside our control. We may add or remove the playlists we track at any time.
5. Your account
If you create an account, give accurate information and keep your sign-in credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account from the point at which you knew or should reasonably have known of unauthorized access. Tell us promptly at hello@inputtrail.com if you suspect any unauthorized use. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms (see section 12).
6. Order process and payment
InputTrail offers a free tier that includes the first 50 hours of automatic hour tracking, and a paid Pro subscription that continues the tracking features (hour tracking, roadmap progress, statistics, and cross-device sync) after those free hours are used. Once the free hours are used, InputTrail stops tracking new watching until you subscribe; what was tracked before stays visible, and watching done in the meantime is not added later. The videos themselves are free, publicly available YouTube videos and stay free to watch whether or not you subscribe. The free hours never turn into a paid subscription on their own: we take no payment details for them, so you are charged only after you complete a checkout yourself. When you buy a subscription, the sale is made through our payment provider, Paddle, which is the legal seller for the transaction. We remain the provider of the service under these Terms.
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
This means Paddle handles order, payment, invoice, billing, refund, chargeback, and tax questions; you can reach Paddle support through paddle.com/help. We handle questions about the service itself, such as your account, features, and technical issues, at hello@inputtrail.com. The specific Paddle entity that sells to you is shown in checkout and on your order confirmation, and your purchase is also subject to the Paddle Buyer Terms.
Prices are shown at checkout in the currency Paddle assigns for your region and include applicable VAT or sales tax as calculated by Paddle. Your card details are entered with Paddle and handled by Paddle under the PCI DSS standard; we never receive or store them. By creating an account or completing checkout, you accept both these Terms and our Refund Policy.
If your local consumer-protection law or Paddle's published Refund Policy gives you a longer refund window or a stronger right than these Terms or our Refund Policy, the longer window or stronger right applies. For example, if Paddle's Refund Policy provides a 14-day refund window and your local consumer law provides a 30-day window, the 30-day window applies.
7. Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation
The Pro subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period at the price and interval shown at checkout, until you cancel. You can cancel yourself at any time from your account page: sign in, open your account page, and choose "Cancel subscription". You can also cancel by emailing us at hello@inputtrail.com, and one message is enough. We do not ask you to call us or to sit through a retention offer first. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period: you keep access until then and are not charged for the next period. We do not charge a separate cancellation fee.
If we change the subscription price, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email or a prominent notice in the service, and you may cancel before the new price takes effect. We do not prorate partial periods unless the law or our Refund Policy requires it.
For customers in the United States: you give express consent to automatic renewal at checkout, your order confirmation records the renewal terms, and you can cancel online from your account page at any time, in the same place and by the same means you used to subscribe. You do not have to call us, write to us, or speak to anyone to stop your subscription renewing.
The cancellation described in this section, for customers in the United States and everywhere else, has one narrow exception: in the 30 minutes immediately before a renewal, our payment provider locks the subscription and does not accept a cancellation, so a cancellation made in that window, online or by email, cannot stop that renewal. If this happens to you, try again after the renewal. Your cancellation then takes effect at the end of the new billing period, on the terms above. If you are charged for a renewal you meant to cancel, contact us and we will try to put it right, as our Refund Policy says.
8. Refunds and the right of withdrawal
Refunds are issued by Paddle from the original transaction to your original payment method; we do not process refunds directly. To request a refund, contact Paddle, or contact us and we will file the request with Paddle on your behalf. If you are a consumer in the EU or EEA, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal for distance purchases of digital content. Checkout does not ask you to request immediate access to the paid service, and does not collect your acknowledgment that doing so costs you that right, so it applies in full to every purchase, including after the paid service has started. UK consumers have equivalent rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. The full details are in our Refund Policy.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to use InputTrail to:
- break the law, infringe anyone's rights, commit fraud, or harass others;
- distribute malware, probe or attack the security of the service, or otherwise interfere with it or its providers;
- scrape, harvest, or extract data in bulk except as the service expressly allows, or circumvent the hour tracking, the trial limit, or any access control;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the software behind the service, except to the limited extent applicable law permits this despite a contractual restriction;
- use the service to build or train a competing product, or to impersonate others or us;
- resell or commercially redistribute access to the service or the third-party videos it links to.
If you use the service in a way that breaks these rules, we may restrict, suspend, or close your access (see section 12). Use of the service must also comply with the terms of the third-party platforms it relies on, including YouTube.
If you are in the United States, you confirm that you are not located in, or ordinarily resident in, any country or region subject to comprehensive US, EU, or UK sanctions, that you are not on any applicable government sanctions list, and that you will not use the service for any sanctioned purpose.
10. Your data and reporting concerns
How we handle personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms by reference. By using the service, you acknowledge the processing described there. Cookies are described in our Cookie Policy.
InputTrail stores the learning statistics you generate (for example, your watched hours and video statuses); it does not host content you publish to other people. You are responsible for the information you submit. If you believe content reached through the service is unlawful or breaches these Terms, email us at hello@inputtrail.com with the details and we will review it without undue delay. If we restrict or close your account, we will give you the reasons, where the law requires it, and tell you how to respond.
11. Intellectual property and feedback
The service itself, including its software, design, text, and the InputTrail name and logo, belongs to us or our licensors. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service in line with these Terms. We claim no rights in the third-party videos, which belong to their creators. The service may link to or rely on third-party services we do not control, and their terms apply to your use of them. If you send us suggestions or feedback, we may use them to improve the service without any obligation or payment to you.
12. Suspension and termination
You may stop using InputTrail at any time. You can delete your account yourself from your account page, or ask us to delete it by emailing hello@inputtrail.com. A subscription that renews must be cancelled before the account can be deleted, and deleting your account ends any paid access at once (see the Refund Policy). We may suspend or close your account if you materially breach these Terms or the acceptable-use rules, if we reasonably suspect fraud or abuse, or if we are required to by law. Where a breach can be fixed and the law allows, we will give you notice and a chance to fix it first. A user whose account we close for breach may not open a new account without our consent. When your account ends, your access stops and your data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy. Sections that by their nature should continue (including intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, governing law, and dispute resolution) survive termination.
13. Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", to the extent permitted by law. To that extent, we disclaim implied warranties such as merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, and we do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error free, or that hour tracking will be perfectly accurate. This does not affect the mandatory conformity rights you have as a consumer under the EU Digital Content Directive, the Swedish Consumer Sales Act (Konsumentköplagen), the UK Consumer Rights Act, and similar laws.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any statutory right you have as a consumer. If a provision of these Terms is inconsistent with a mandatory consumer-protection rule that applies to you, that rule applies instead of the provision and the rest of these Terms continues to apply.
14. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for gross negligence or willful misconduct, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including your statutory consumer rights.
Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect, consequential, incidental, special, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost goodwill, lost data, or business interruption, to the extent permitted by law. Our total liability to you for all claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim and 100 euros.
15. Governing law and dispute resolution
If you have a problem with the service, please email us first at hello@inputtrail.com; we aim to resolve issues directly. These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without giving effect to its conflict-of-laws rules. Nothing in this section limits any mandatory consumer-protection rule that applies to you under the law of your habitual residence (Article 6 of the Rome I Regulation).
If you are a consumer resident in the EU or EEA, you may bring proceedings against us in the courts of Sweden or in the courts of your country of residence, and we will only bring proceedings against you in your country of residence (Articles 17 to 19 of the Brussels Ia Regulation). We do not require arbitration, and we do not impose a class-action waiver on consumers.
For order, payment, refund, billing, and tax matters, you can also contact the Paddle entity shown in your checkout and order confirmation. If you are a consumer resident in Sweden, you can bring a complaint to the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes (Allmänna Reklamationsnämnden, ARN), arn.se; we consider participation in ARN proceedings case by case. EU and EEA consumers can find their national dispute-resolution body through the European Commission directory at consumer-redress.ec.europa.eu. If you are a UK consumer, Citizens Advice can help with consumer issues.
California residents may report complaints to the Complaint Assistance Unit of the Division of Consumer Services of the California Department of Consumer Affairs in writing at 1625 North Market Blvd., Suite N 112, Sacramento, CA 95834, or by telephone at (800) 952-5210.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the service or the law changes. We post updates at this page and bump the "Last updated" date. For material changes, we will give notice by email or a prominent notice in the service at least 30 days before they take effect, and you may end a paid subscription without penalty before the change applies. Continuing to use the service after the effective date means you accept the change.
17. General
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, the Refund Policy, and any policies referenced in them, are the entire agreement between you and Mawal AB about your use of the service, and supersede any prior agreement on the same subject.
If a court or competent authority finds any provision of these Terms to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision is severed from the Terms and the rest of the Terms continues to apply. If removing the severed provision leaves these Terms substantively unbalanced, the parties will replace it with a valid provision that achieves the closest lawful effect to the original.
Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our consent; we may transfer ours in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, provided the successor honors these Terms. We send notices to the email on your account, and you send notices to hello@inputtrail.com. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.
